Happy Valentine's Day!

For the record, though the Countdown was very cathartic, I know that there are good guys out there. I've even dated a couple of them.

Pictured is Eric, a guy I dated Freshman year. He is smart, sweet, funny, and could always keep up on the dancefloor. He even stayed up all night with me to box up my entire dorm room to send home after finals. We're still friends. He's been a permanent fixture at all of my birthdays and I'd do anything for him. He's now a teacher and getting his Masters at Hopkins in Special Education.

(A close runner-up would have to be my High School Sweetheart, Tyler. He's a Dad now, and getting married soon, but he's such a part of the family that he still calls my Mom on Mother's Day. He's one of the kindest people I know. He was even studying to be a minister at one time).

Cynicism aside, on Valentine's Day (if I think about romance at all) I think about those two great guys. I know there are more like them out there.

(very cute)

You've really sold me on Eric... maybe I want to switch teams, can you give me his number?

I don't see myself as any of those types. I think I'm too nice though, which is why I'm still friends with a few exes, which a lot of girls I date don't appreciate.

Rich- Lemme ask Erbear and then I'll get back to you. I'm pretty sure he's all about the chicas though.

Ninja- Wait. "Girls (you) date." I thought your Toolbelt was taken!

I am not friends with any of my exes, does that mean I am not nice at all?

roar, I am currently dating Toobelt Diva. She isn't happy that I am still friends with exes, and neither have past other girls been. (is that a real sentence?)

Being friends never works out for me after the break-up either. I don't think it's a matter of niceness, instead a matter of circumstances. The offer to be friends is something that happens to make the involved feel better about the break-up, that it's not going from all to nothing. It rarely works out in the end, to my knowledge.

That said... it's good to finally see the guys get some love here.

Oh me too, totally, but that doesn't mean me and Eric can't make it work. Two straight guys, caring for each other... and you know, every once in a while, I just want a cuddle, nothing sexual or anything. (Is he financially secure?)

Marci- I'm not friends with some of my exes either. I agree with 66, it's a circumstancial thing. Since my "relationships" rarely last longer than a month or so, there's rarely a reason not to stay friendly (how could anything that bad happen in a month?). Eric and I lasted longer and we're friends cuz he's amazing. Didn't mean to make you feel "not nice." I think you're superbly nice.

Rich- Yes, he's financially stable. Does that really matter, though, in your het-guy-love scenario?

The WaPo horoscopes people must have been hit by Cupid's arrow, because they're being awfully generous with today's horoscopes, for you dear:

Taurus April 20 - May 20 -Prepare yourself. The heavens have arranged for a special dose of magic and romance for this Valentine's Day. All your feelings will be especially potent, too, thanks to the perfect astrological recipe for love -- maybe even love at first sight. If you're single, on the other hand, don't be depressed, and don't you dare stay home tonight. Your Valentine may be out there looking for you -- but remember, you can't win if you don't play.

Mwah!

How sweet! What are you doin' tonight, darlin? I have tentative girl-date plans. Want in?

Roar Savage said...

Scratch that. It's not a girl date at all. It's drinking. Wanna come drink with me and my friends, lol? Again, I promise to lay off the martinis...

We can prove this guy wrong (or right) depending on how we feel.

I'm game for girl-date fun, as long as your date(s) don't mind an extra wheel?

I was really starting to enjoy the guy bashing.

Just broke up with my gf last weak. Really hope we can stay friends.

Oh, it wasn't you Roar, it was TimTheToolManNinja and his "too nice" comment. Kidding. I wasn't looking for sympathy. But I do think I am the odd one out in life in that I don't speak to anyone I've dated in the past. Meh. Next!

vg- I must say, thinking about the chance to disgrace/piss off my Dad on Father's Day does kinda get me going...

dev- Nick and I love you.

Nick- wait til I tell you what we're doing tonight. OMG. So excited!

Nanner: Tim-the-tool-man-ninja. Love it!

That was purely for your benefit ;)

'Mous- won't be at Tryst. Too many fratty's in AM for a fun night on the town. We'll be in full force, though!

And Kemp-- There's NOTHING S.A.D. here, my friend.
