The Peanut Gallery

The nosey cooks at job #2 always have something to say to make me feel so... hot. Forgive the broken Spanish. It's the only way we communicate. I should learn more.

"Gorda!"
"Que?"
"Tu. Gordana. Aqui." (Pointing to their hips).
"No. ... Si? ... Pero solo un poquito gorda...!"
They shrugged. I think they thought I would be more combative, affected, whatever.
"Si?"
"Si." They're both nodding.
"Yo gusto." (Now I'm holding my own hips). "Quiero mirar como una mujer."

I woke up for the gym at 6am the next morning. Iris (pronounced Eee-reese) just loves that she can get to me like that.

Oh Christ.

...did you try to say you wanted to look like a woman?

exactly. I realize, that is not the correct verb. I know I don't want to "see like a woman." I really need to get off my butt and study the language more. At least I can usually understand... hehe.

methinks "parecer" here, "to seem" or "to appear"

Then again, my Spanish conversational skills are kept sharp on the soccer field, in the cafeteria, and on the phone with some of our vendors -- it's not exactly "proper", if ya know what I mean.

3½ years of Spanish for this?

Allow me translate the spanish using my three years of french and two years of japanese:

Gordon!
Who?
You're Gordon aren't you? (Pointing to their hips)
No, Yes?Why am I alone a popular gordon?
Yes?
Yes
I'm cool! (Now I'm holding my own hips)
Just Who do you think you are?!

LOLOLOL.

Gorda means fat in Spanish. Er, chubby. They promise me that it's a compliment... like, "cute chubby" but cultural differences, ya know?

I think the phrase you're looking for is, "Tienes una bonita tracera."
The buss boys were rating "las traceras" of the girls at work a while back. That's how I know.

Thanks, Martin. You're a doll. Mwah!

I would've said something like this:

"Hey, usted tiene caderas gordas agradables!"
¿"realmente? Gordo?"
"no, gordo como ' densamente.' Eso es una buena cosa!"

I'm not seeing the whole "fat hips" thing on you, personally, but it's better to have jelly than not, in my view. A little junk in the trunk goes a long way. ;)
